Herding at the 2010 PCA National Specialty

The 2010 PCA National Specialty will provide several great opportunities for you to learn and experience herding, and hopefully inspire you to pursue additional herding training with your Puli.  Your Puli is eligible to enter Herding Tests if 9 months or older.

Members Education Herding Seminar
When: Friday, October 22nd (Time: TBD)
Where: Holiday Inn Hotel of Springfield
Presented by: Lynnette Milleville

Lynnette Milleville is one of the original authors of the AKC herding program. She and her husband have traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe competing, judging, and teaching clinics and seminars. Lynnette has provided clinics and seminars for many different AKC breed clubs. Her first book on training tending dogs will be available soon. It is entitled “Hear My Voice – An Old World Approach to Training Herding Dogs Today”.

Hands-On Herding Clinic
When: Monday, October 25th (Time: 9:30 AM)
Where: Nutmeg Farm, Portland CT (approx. 30 mi from host hotel)
Instructor: Lynnette Milleville

This clinic will be a perfect opportunity to learn more about what is expected of your dog in an AKC Herding Instinct Test, as well as herding opportunities beyond the Instinct Test level.

Herding Instinct Tests
When: Monday, October 25th (following the Herding Clinic)
Where: Nutmeg Farm, Portland CT (approx. 30 mi from host hotel)
Judges: Lynnette & Tim Milleville
Cost: $45/dog/test (includes Herding Clinic)

In order to earn an AKC Herding Instinct title, each dog must earn a qualifying score (pass) in two different Herding Instinct Tests. We will offer two AKC Herding Instinct Tests on Monday, October 25th, giving participants the opportunity to earn a Herding Instinct title in a single day.

No preparation, prior experience or training is required.

Lunch will be provided.
