Special Note Regarding Massachusetts’ law: Massachusetts prohibits leaving an animal in a motor vehicle when it could reasonably be expected that the health of the animal could be threatened due to extreme heat or cold. (gopetfriendly.com) There have been unconfirmed reports of visitors to Massachusetts leaving their dog(s) in the car when it was not extremely hot or cold while they were gone for a short period of time (e.g. eating dinner) and having the police called to check on the welfare of the dog(s).
